It hadn’t even been two months since I moved to Italy and already I was back in Los Angeles for a surprise visit to my family. It would have been stupid of me to pass up the ridiculously low price of a $700 roundtrip flight for Spring Break!!! A week of course, was not nearly enough time to spend with every single person I know, but thankfully I was able to see most of my favorite people. Although I did have tons of fun hanging out with family and dancing the night away with friends, I realized that what I enjoyed the most during my Spring Break was eating. Yup, you read correctly…I ate until I literally couldn’t any more.
The entire week I had no care about gaining weight, or not being able to sleep at night from eating too much (both of them happened). All I knew was that I wanted to take advantage and eat all the food I had been so badly craving in Rome.
I’d make most of this food myself, but it’s almost impossible to find any of the necessary ingredients here in Rome. I still haven’t found jalapeños, cilantro or corn tortillas! I’ve sure been bitching about it for too long, so this weekend I’m going on a mission to look for them and I’m asking all of you to please pray to the food gods and ask that I find what I’m looking for!
Anyway, here are pictures of MOST of the food I ate while in Los Angeles with the details of who made it or where I bought it. The food that didn’t make it on here probably didn’t make it because I was too hungry to remember to take a picture. Hope you get hungry and go eat some tacos for me! No seriously, do it for those who can’t!
First stop, tacos! La Estrella in Highland Park with that red salsa that I love! The other tacos are from someplace in Bakersfield that I don’t remember the name, with my mom’s salsa, because it’s the best.
Silverlake Ramen is the place to go for ramen…this extra spicy shoyu ramen with chicken, mushrooms, and broccoli, is now an addiction of mine thanks to my sister! My dad loves it too if you can tell by the pic; he’d kill me if he knew I put it on here!
Breakfast at
Urth Caffe with one of my closest friends…I accidentally got the Belgian Waffles, which are still good, but the Multigrain Waffles are the ones to buy. Also, don’t leave without trying their Spanish latte!

My aunt Rebeca and uncle Jairo, who are like my second parents, made these delicious carne asada huaraches with guacamole and some freakin good salsa! I’m craving these right now!
Best omelette of life at
Armon’s in Eagle Rock.
My aunt Linda made me some mole, then offered me coffee because she knows what I like.
The fact that I worked there and ate there way too often, doesn’t change the fact that
El Arco Iris is still one of my favorite Mexican restaurants! And those margaritas…fuck, I want one now!
Oh there’s dad again…so sad, always taking pictures of him when he’s not ready!
YUP! That’s an In-N-Out double double with grilled onions + animal style fries that I devoured! Someone ship me some!!

Last but not least, mom’s cooking. More mole, some pollo con crema, nopales, and that delicious salsa of hers! I miss her food already!
P.S.
Sometimes I wonder why I’m not obese…I don’t even work out that much. But if I ever do work out, you better believe it’s because I’m planning on eating a lot!
Love Always,
The Wanderluster
(and glutton apparently)
